Cleveland International Film Festival

Tomorrow the Cleveland International Film Festival opens over at Tower City. As a totally jaded former film student, I can say that I have seen a few cool things and had a good time despite being at Tower City (the bathrooms there are in fact the 9th circle of hell!).

Overall the vibe is that of the more sincere movie lovers; you don't get the industry knuckleheads and after-party crashing drunks who just want to be seen doing something "cultured", although that is part of the entertainment at times. During the course of this festival, you are bound to run into several people you know, and maybe you can go get hammered afterwards. Why not?

If anything, you will be hard pressed to find a film based off a bad 70s TV show, and you won't have to endure the National Guard recruitment commercial starring Three Doors Down. Seriously, I stopped going to theaters on weekends because there are so many damn commercials.
