Call for Artists & Designers

Cleveland Public Art - Call For Artists
Public Art Opportunity

On behalf of the City of Cleveland's Public Art Program, Cleveland Public Art is inviting artists to submit letters of interest and qualifications for one or more of three public art projects. The public art opportunities arise out of capital improvements recently undertaken by the city's water division. If you visit the competitions page of the Cleveland Public Art website (www.clevelandpublicart.org), you can download a concise version of the call, which provides all the information you would need, or, if you prefer, a slightly more elaborate version is also available. Project budgets range from $25,000 to $149,000. Please share this information with anyone you know who may be interested. Cleveland Public Art is a private, non-profit organization administering this call under contract to the City of Cleveland.

Bazaar Bizarre Winter Show (UPDATE: all vendor spots have now been filled)

Mark your calendars! Buy DIY for the holidays and support local artists! Bazaar Bizarre, Cleveland's fabulous original indie craft show takes place Saturday December 13th from noon to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday December 14th from noon to 6:00 p.m. You may remember the building complex (former home of 1300 Gallery) from the first Cleveland BazBiz shows, but the entrance is in a different location this year: 78th Street Studios: 1300 W. 78th St to 1305 W. 80th St., North parking lot, North entrance -- accessible from W. 78th OR W 80th St.

And on a slightly unrelated note:
I find that Craigslist is a wonderful source of free entertainment, and it shows just how delusional, desperate, and idiotic some people can be -- especially the artists section. I found
this to be amazing. If you are stupid enough to give a gallery almost $500 a year to represent you, well, you got what was coming to you kid. And can someone tell me who this guy is that keeps posting everywhere wanting people to draw him nay-nay? It is getting kind of silly, like, dude we get it, you wanna get paid for being nay-nay in front of some ladies and gents under the guise of "art". I know other places like that where you can do the same thing, but I don't think they call it art per se.

Although, I did once have a weirdo old man body builder randomly contact me on MySpace about hosting an art-fart event where supposedly he says rich cougar, and not-so-cougar women, have cocktail parties and think it is all super fun to have a nekked dude in their living room and a bunch of artists drawing him -- then they buy the drawings when they're all liquored up. I like how the guy assumed I would a. be interested b. pay his airfare from Chicago c. let him stay at my pad d. wanted a 50% cut of drawings sold and e. if I didn't know any rich ladies, could I refer him to an artist that did. !?!?!?
